This is a review of a self released 5 way split album review between Australia's Wandering Martyr, Destined To Suffer, Chagrin, Hellhole and Russia's Ruined Life called "Sing Me One Last Time" and we will start off the review with Wandering Martyr a solo project that plays an atmospheric form of black metal.
His side of the split starts out with some clean playing and atmospheric and post rock elements before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic style and all of the music sticks to a slower direction.The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depressive themes.
In my opinion Wandering Martyr are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split.
Next up is Destined To Suffer a solo project that returns with his atmospheric style of post black metal.
His side of the split starts out with some rain, thunder sounds and whispers before going into a heavier and atmospheric musical direction. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the vocals are done in a grim black metal style while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody as well as the second track also adding in more of a depressive atmosphere, both songs are also long and epic in length. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Destined to Suffer and if you are a fan of atmospheric post black metal, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Torment".
Next up is Ruined Mind a solo project that plays an atmospheric form of post black metal.
His side of the split starts out with the sounds of suicide along with some atmospheric elements which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs. Vocals are mostly depressive sounding black metal screams while synths and clean playing can also be heard at times. The second track is very long and epic in length and all of the music sticks to a slower direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Ruined Mind are a very great sounding depressive and atmospheric post black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Rotting World[Inside]".
Next up is Chagrin who returns with his atmospheric style of post black metal.
His side of the split starts out with some water and nature sounds before adding in some clean playing which also introduces elements of post rock onto his side of the recording. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them as well as the music also mixing the atmospheric and heavy parts together.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody. When guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as a brief use of spoken word parts and all of the music sticks to a slower direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depressive themes.

His side of the split starts out with some clean playing along with the track also being very long and epic in length. The music also mixes the heavy and atmospheric elements together as well as the guitar leads also being done in a very melodic style and the vocals are done in a tortured black metal style, whispers can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depressive themes.
In my opinion Hellhole is a very great sounding atmospheric post black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and would recommend it to all fans of atmospheric, depressive and post black metal. 8 out of 10.
