Wardaemonic are a band from Australia that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a dissonant form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Acts Of Repentance" which will be released in March by Transcending Obscurity Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. The riffs also bring in a great amount of dissonant elements along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
Atmospheric sounds can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the solos and leads also being done in a very dissonant style. Death metal growls are also brought into some parts of the songs and as the album progresses a small amount of clean playing, spoken word parts and synths are also added into some of the tracks and a later song also adds in some clean vocals and acoustic guitars. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, war, death, suicide and hatred themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Wardaemonic and if you are a fan of dissonant black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Act I Introspection" and "Act IV Sufferance". 8 out of 10.
