Pessimista is a solo project from Brazil that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self titled 2019 ep which was released by Nailed Nazarene Industries.
Atmospheric sounding synths and heavy riffing starts off the ep while both of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. During the faster sections of the songs a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly tortured yet high pitched black metal screams along with some ambient elements also being utilized briefly. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style while the music also brings in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences.
Pessimista plays a style of atmospheric black emtal that captures the rawness of the old school era as well as mixing it with the more modern day atmospheric style to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Portuguese and cover negativity, loneliness, suicide, depression and drug addiction themes.
In my opinion Pessimista is a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Magnetismo Negativo". 8 out of 10.
