This is a review of a compilation that was released by a brand new label called Ritual Abuse Hysteria and their album "La Satanisme et la Magie" which consists of black metal bands from the Bible Belt portion of the Southern United States and we will review all of the bands and their 2 tracks that have have contributed to this release.
Glyph
Their first track starts out with a very heavy yet lo-fi sound while you can also hear all of t he musical instruments that are present on both tracks along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams as well as the tremolo picking and blast beats also giving the music more of a raw feeling, both of the tracks also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the riffing and the second song also mixes in more dissonant structures into the rawer sections of the music.
Maw.
A very fast and raw sound along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats start off their first track. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. Both of their songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while also being very heavily rooted in the 90's era as well as the second song also adding in some dark yet melodic guitar leads. all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Reproach
A very aggressive and brutal war metal sound starts off their first track along with a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly bestial growls while the tremolo picking in the faster sections of the songs also gives the music more of a raw feeling as well as both of the tracks also adding in a decent amount of mid tempo sections.
The Bleak
A very dark, heavy and dissonant sound starts off their first track while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams that are mixed down low in the mix. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them, air raid sirens can also be heard briefly on the second track as well as the tremolo picking and blast beats also giving the music more of a raw feeling.
Skorbvstr
A very dark yet distorted sound starts off the first track before going into a heavier direction which also introduces grim yet high pitched black metal screams into the music. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling as well as adding in a lot of old school influences, the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Thumos
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the first track while you can also hear all of the musical instruments present on both tracks. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling as well as being very heavily rooted in the 90's era, both tracks also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the music is also instrumental.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding compilation and I would recommend it to all fans of USBM, raw and old school black metal. 8 out of 10.
