Vomit Ritual are a band from Riverside, California that has been featured before in this zine and plays a bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Callous" which will be released in July by Pulverised Records.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also add in a lot of war metal elements, tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the vocals are a mixture of b estial growls and high pitched black metal screams. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style along with some atmospheric soundscapes also being utilized at times as well as the closing track also b eing very long and epic in length and also adds in a brief use of spoken word parts.
On this recording Vomit Ritual adds in some atmospheric touches to their bestial mixture of war, black and death metal as well as showing a great amount of progress as musicians from their previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Hate, Blasphemy and Darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Vomit Ritual and if you are a fan of war and bestial black death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Asphyxiated" "Penetrating The Infectious Wound" and "Nervous Temple". 8 out of 10.
