Kanonenfieber are a solo project from Germany that plays a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of his 2021 album "Menschenmühle" which was released by Noisebringer Records.
Clean playing starts off the album while also introducing spoken word samples onto the sample which also return on later tracks. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody and blast beats are also added into the faster sections of the songs.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also add in a decent mixture of sow, mid paced and fast parts. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with some death metal growls also being utilized at times and some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when it is utilized. as well as clean playing also making a return on some of the later tracks, war samples can also be heard as the album progresses and an acoustic guitars and clean vocals are also added on the closing song. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover World War I themes.
In my opinion Kanonenfieber are a very great sounding aggressive and melodic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Die Feurtaufe" "Grabenlieder" and "Unterstandsangst". 8 out of 10.
