Rorima are a duo from Venezuela that plays a folk inspired form of atmospheric black metal and this is a review of their self released 2021 album "WR".
Acoustic guitars start off the album and also bring in elements of folk music onto the recording which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
All of the drum beats are also programmed along with a couple of the tracks also being very long and epic in length. The riffs also add in a decent amount of melody as well as some songs also adding in some clean vocals as well as one track also introducing nature sounds onto the album, they also bring in a few instrumentals which also adds in some touches of pre Hispanic music. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover ancestral nature and the shamanism, history and mythology of the aboriginal people of their homeland.
In my opinion Rorima are a very great sounding folk inspired atmospheric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Waraira Repano" "La Bruja Del Avila" "Ecos Lejanos" and "Eclipse". 8 out of 10.
