Jordfäst are a duo from Sweden that plays a very atmospheric and epic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Hädanefter" which will be released on May 7th by Nordvis Produktion.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Both of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with both of the songs also having their atmospheric moments.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while keyboards can also be heard in some parts of the recording. Melodic vocals and chants are also utilized briefly along with the solos and leads also adding in a great amount of melody and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some spoken words also being utilized briefly as well as the music also adding in a good amount of atmospheric soundscapes, when tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics natural disasters, human atrocities, philosophical, witchcraft and occultism themes..
In my opinion Jordfäst are a very great sounding epic and atmospheric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Hädanförd". 8 out of 10.
