Passéisme are a band from Russia that plays a very aggressive and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Eminence" which will be released in June by Antiq.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo p8icking and blast b eats. The riffs also ad in a lot of melody while the vocals are mostly done in an angry black metal style as well as a couple of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also brings in the raw energy of punk rock at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with a couple of tracks also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts and as the album progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars, choirs and flutes can also be heard.
Passéisme plays a style of black metal that is very raw and melodic as well as mixing in the energy of punk rock to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover poetry and fin de siecle themes.
In my opinion Passéisme are a very great sounding raw and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Chant For Tribulation" "Chant For Parade" and "Chant For Enlightenment". 8 out of 10.
