Silhouette are a band from France that plays a depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their album "Les Retranchement" which will be released in 2022 by Antiq.
Clean playing starts off the album along with some female vocals a few seconds later which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs. A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the faster sections of the recording also add in a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also give the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals a re mostly high pitched yet depressive black metal screams while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Synths can also be heard briefly along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized as well as one track also adding in a brief use of clean male vocals., the music also has its atmospheric moments.
Silhouette plays a musical style that forms the atmospheric, traditional and depressive forms of black metal and mixes it in with some goth metal style female vocals to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover lost ones and fantomatic shapes shapes from which fragments and souvenirs remain.
In my opinion Silhhouette are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE " La Première Neige" and "L'Etreinte de la Chute". 8 out of 10.
