1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?
1. Since recording the album we have started rehearsing our live performance and reimagining our physical manifestation on stage.
2.You have a new album coming out in March, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
Musically it is undoubtedly darker, more sombre but also more catchy and concise in most respects. We took core elements from previous releases and removed any excess noise or clutter. We wanted to create something that is hard to forget.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer release and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?
3. The album is ultimately centred around death but explores themes of mass hysteria, loss, bitterness and venturing into the unknown, among other topics.
We feel we have grown markedly as songwriters since our first releases, as we have always tried to best our previous work with something more challenging. This album was no exception - we were able to utilize the foundations set by the first two albums to build something even more grand in stature. There was extra attention paid in creating something memorable throughout the album’s creation.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Idol Of Fear'?
4. Fear has always been one of the most powerfully potent forces in this world. The name was taken from the 1957 movie "The Seventh Seal".
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
5. To us the artwork represents a multitude of things, but one interpretation we can offer is a schism of the psyche, lending a doorway for certain parts of oneself that could be deemed as trespassers.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
6. We are very bare and visceral live compared to our recordings.
7.The new album is going to be released on 'Sonnolence Productions', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
7. The label is a work in progress. It will mainly contain projects that are centered around members of Idol of Fear
8.Are there any plans for live shows again in the future?
8. Definitely if it's the right kind of show.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
9. Generally our reception has been good as far as we know, but there are always elitists who may reject any sort of deviance from tradition. It does not bother us in the slightest.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
10. We are keeping the possibilities for the next release open at this point. There are many ideas ranging from very grandiose cinematic death marches to very aggressive and fast rock and roll songs.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles these days that some of the band members are currently listening to?
11. There are various bands and styles we are all into. Some universally loved bands between us would be The Devil's Blood, In Solitude, Shining, Leviathan,
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
