Beastiality are a band Sweden that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays an old school mixture of black, death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2022 ep "Sacrificial Chants" which will be released on February 25th by Invictus Productions.
A very dark and apocalyptic sounding intro starts off the ep before going into a heavier musical direction. Elements of thrash metal are also added into the guitar riffing while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
The music also adds in a good mixture of both first and second wave influences while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic yet old school style along with the music also adding in some touches of death metal, when tremolo picking is added into some of the faster riffing it also gives the tracks more of a raw feeling.
On this recording Beastiality remain true to the old school mixture of black, death and thrash metal that they had established on t heir previous release. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Death and Morbidity themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Beastiality and if you are a fan old school black, death and thrash metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sacrificial Chants" and "The Black Sun Prophecy". 8 out of 10.
