KrvL Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

We have been working hard on the vinyl release.

We’re happy to say it will arrive around may.

Furthermore we already started writing for our second album.

2.You have your first full length coming out in March, musically how does it differ form your previous singles?

The singles are in fact on the album! We liked them too much to not include them.

Atmosphere is very important to us and I think we have managed to put the right amount of atmosphere into  every song on the album.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

Lyrical topics that are touched on the album are nature, humanity, finding inner peace, nemesis & resurrection. At first it wasn’t our intention to write in our native language.

This actually happened by accident but it definitely adds to the atmosphere.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'KrvL'?

KrvL is short for Kravaal. It’s a nearby forest.

We have a common love for nature and we all like being in the forest.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

This comes from the shooting of one of our videos. When we saw the image we all agreed this would make the perfect cover.

6.I have read the band has interest in live shows has that became a possibility yet with the pandemic restrictions being lifted?

We never really intended to play live but nevertheless, it’s always possible.

We keep this option open…

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

We were very close to signing a record deal but in the end we chose to release it ourselves.

Who knows what might happen for future releases…

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been  to your music by fans of atmospheric and post black metal?

We’re very honored about all the positive reactions we got so far.

People seem to really like and understand the atmosphere that is created through our music.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

The atmosphere will remain. That’s for sure! We’re happy with the way our songs turned out and we will keep on creating music the same way. We will keep on evolving!

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Our fellow countrymen amenra & wiegedood have definitely been an influence!

But we have been listening to black metal for over 25 years.

We still listen to black metal in all its forms. Also doom & sludge.

Besides these things there are also a lot of non metal bands like Tindersticks, Wovenhand, Nick Cave, The National…

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

We all have a common interest in nature and also whisky 😊

& we all appreciate nice historic buildings too.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for showing an interest in KrvL and we really hope our debut album wil be appreciated by all atmospheric black metal fans out there!
