Noctem Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording  of the new album?

Beleth: Since the recording of the new album we signed with MNRK Heavy, and we were preparing the release of this album, at the same time that we were doing some last promotional shows for our previous album The Black Consecration. We made appearances at some festivals like bloodstock, Metal days and Motocultor. Now we are totally involved in the promotion of this new album, which we will start presenting live very soon.

2.You have a new album coming out towards the end of October, musically how does it differ form the stuff you have released in the past?

Beleth: It is something new, different, darker and more powerful. This time we have focused more on the melodies, but the essence of the band has not been lost, highlighting the Spanish guitars and that dark folkloric touch that we have always used in our compositions.

3.You have covered ancient civilizations with past releases. which ancient civilizations do you have the most interest in?

Beleth: I think that an album that has marked the trajectory of the band above the others was "Oblivion", regarding its themes we talked about the Mayan culture and how the Spanish arrived there and conquered the lands of Yucatan, how the Mayans abandoned their culture and they embraced the Christianity that was imposed on them. It should be noted that we have always been against Spanish colonization, which is why the album had a strong criticism on this subject and received the great support and applause of the Latin American fans

4.In one interview you also mentioned an interest in Satanism and Occultism, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts and how has your beliefs evolved over the past few years?

Beleth: I grew up without a father and in a family in which my mother, my aunts and my grandmother were practitioners of the occult, we have a huge library of books on these subjects, it is something that I have not minded telling in public for years. Since I was 10 years old, my mother taught me to read tarot cards, my grandmother did shamanism and I remember seeing many people at home practicing on family holidays.

Growing up in an environment like this made me acquire a different primary culture than other children, it is an environment in which I have always felt very comfortable, I am not a Christian and I accept other visions of the life and death.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

Beleth: the art work was made from Joe Arca Designs, he is a Valencian illustrator artist who works different styles. We have worked with him on different occasions and he always does it perfectly. The work in its central part extols what would be the false messiah, the one who announces a tomorrow that does not exist, highlighting chaos on the sides and false apostles of the Catholic Church on the back... all very according to the days that we are living.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Beleth: some of the best shows i remember was our first time in china, it was a soldout and we couldn't even imagine the tour we were going to live these days, we really had a great time. I think it was the only time that the public shouted so loud that it was impossible to hear us through the monitors.

Now everything has become much more savage, this has definitely become an orgy of blood and old school black metal.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is release?

Beleth: We are working on it to present the álbum in 2023 in Europe and America.

8.The new album is going to be released on 'MNRK Heavy', can you tell us a little bit more about this label and also how would you compare working with this label to other labels that you have been a part of in the past?

Beleth: I'm not going to make a comparison with other labels, I'm just going to point out that the support we've received from MNRK is enormous, it's highly professional and their entire team knows what they're doing. We couldn't be happier.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your newer music by fans of black and death metal?

Beleth: The support is being brutal, you only need to see the comments on the youtube videos and the criticism we are receiving from the press about this new album. People are really enjoying this new material and this keeps us going stronger than ever.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Beleth: I don't even know that. Obviously we are not going to make pop or electronic music, but it is clear that we will continue betting on extreme metal, which is what we like.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

Beleth: We generally only listen to extreme metal. Everyone has their fetishes, Tobal is more into Death Metal, Varu and Moss are very into ambient Black Metal, Voor is a Grindcore fanatic... and I listen to Black Metal and Death Metal old school mainly.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Beleth: We want to thank you all for your support and time in this interview and invite readers to listen to us and visit our website  noctemofficial.com to find more information about the band.
