Wintermorph are a duo form Russia that plays post black metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 ep Flames".
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep while melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing. All of the musical instruments on the recording also sound very powerful along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black emtal screams and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic post metal style.
Keyboards can also be heard briefly while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with most of the tracks being long and epic in length and the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Wintermoth plays a style of post black metal that is very modern and melodic sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover melancholy, nature and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Wintermorph are a very great sounding post black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Trails". 8 out of 10.
