Heiden are a band from the Czech Republic that plays a progressive from of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Andzjel" which was released by Magick Disk Musick.
Spoken word parts start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. Keyboards can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and at times the music also gets very progressive and avant garde sounding,
Element s of dark metal can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while clean playing can also be heard on some of the tracks. Spoken word parts also return on later songs along with one track also introducing clear vocals onto the album as well as the guitar leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized.
One of the tracks is also an instrumental and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Czech and cover Moravian Paganism, Folklore and the post war totalitarian regime.
In my opinion Heiden are a very great sounding progressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nevěřím těm očím" and "Patřím sem". 8 out of 10.
