Vihameditaatio are a duo from Finland that plays an experimental form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Metafyysinen Käsitys Itsestä" which was released by Esfinge de la Calavera.
Clean playing and avant garde elements start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark y et melodic style and the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard which also gives the album more of a raw feeling. At times the album also gets very experimental sounding along with the riffs also mixing in a decent amount of melody as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, elements of noise can also be heard in some of the song structures and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
Vihameditaatio plays a style of black metal that is very experimental and lo-fi sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover true self destruction and the utter exploring for human life.
In my opinion Vihameditaatio are a very great sounding experimental black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Totuuden Luuranko" "Mantra Lysergiseen Kuiluun" and "Seuraan Käärmettä Sulkavaa". 8 out of 10.
