Curse All Kings solo project from Germany that plays a ritualistic mixture of black metal, noise and dark ambient and this is a review of his 2024 album "Feral Earth" which will be released in march as a joint effort between Breath Sun Bone Blood and Cyclic Law.
Dark ambient soundscapes start off the album along with some synths a few seconds later while whispers can also be heard in the background briefly. Clean playing is also added into certain sections of the recording along with some harsh noises also being utilized at times and a lot of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Electric guitar sounds are also a very huge part of the recording while the music also has its ritualistic moments. One song also adds in a small amount of throat singing along with one track also introducing grim black metal screams and raw tremolo picking onto the album which also takes the music into a heavier direction.
Each track also sounds very different from each other along with some field recordings also being added into certain sections of the album. The music also has its experimental moments as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Curse All Kings are a very great sounding ritualistic mixture of black metal, noise and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wounds Of Land And Body" and "The Veil Between The Forest And The Glade". 8 out of 10.
