Vermeth where a duo from France that played a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2001 album "Your Ruin.." which was re-issued in 2024 by Battlesk'rs Productions.
Grim black metal screams start off the album which evolve more into a high pitched style once heavier riffing is introduced onto the recording. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the songs are heavily rooted in t he mid 90's era.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. A small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing at times along with the songs also avoiding the use of any guitar solos or leads and the whole album also sticks to a heavier direction.
Vermeth played a style of black metal that was very raw and aggressive in the classic French traditon. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, occultism and Misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Vermeth where a very great sounding raw and old school black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Black legions" "Unholy Rapture" and "Die Bastard". 8 out of 10.
