Eldamar are a solo project from Norway that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a very epic and atmospheric form of ambient black metal with elements of dungeon synth and this is a review of his 2024 compilation album "Lost Songs From The Ancient Land" which was released by Northern Silence Productions.
Nature sounds and ambient style synths start off the compilation which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. the music also has its atmospheric moments while also mixing in elements of dungeon synth as well as all of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
Female vocals can also be heard briefly while high pitched black metal screams are also utilized at tkimes. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the tracks also having their melancholic moments, melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast b eats can also be heard and clean playing is added on the closing track.
On this compilation Eldamar brings in one new song and a couple of demo tracks that show the early beginnings of the musical style that he has developed over the years. The production sounds very dark and r aw while the songs themes cover the writings of J.R.R Tolkien, Heathenism, Elven Magick and Nature.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collection from Eldamar and if you are a fan of epic and atmospheric ambient black metal with elements of dungeon synth, you chould check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Entering Eldamar". 8 out of 10.
