Ætheria Conscientia are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a very atmospheric, cosmic, progressive and psychedelic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "The Blossoming" which will b e released in June by Frozen Records.
Clean playing starts off the album along with some synths a few seconds later while the music also gets very progressive sounding at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams and the music also has its atmospheric moments.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the album more of a raw feeling. Growls can also be heard at times along with some psychedelic touches also being added into some parts of the recording ands the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Wind instruments and percussion can also be heard on a few songs along with one song also introducing female vocals onto the album. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them as well as most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length, throat singing can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover science fiction themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ætheria Conscientia abd if you are a fan of atmospheric, cosmic, progressive and psychedelic black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Astral Choir" and "The Blossoming". 8 out of 10.
