Darvaza are an international duo with members from Norway and Italy that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very satanic and occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "We Are Him" which will be released on December 5th by Terratur Possessions.
A classical music orientated sound starts off the album along with some operatic vocals before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams.
Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the music also adding in a lot of old school touches mixed in with a more modern approach as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them, keyboards and clear singing can also be heard briefly.
On this recording Darvaza goes for a very aggressive, traditional, satanic and occult form of black metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the adversarial might of the devil.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Darvaza and if you are a fan of satanic and occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Holy Blood" "Lazarus" and "Darvaza". 8 out of 10.
