Eterna Rovina are a band from Italy that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Metamorfsi" which was released by Silentium In Foresta Records.
Ambient soundscapes start off the album along with some field recordings and after the intro the music starts going into a heavier direction along with some programmed beats a few seconds later and after awhile grim black metal screams and melodic guitar leads are added onto the recording which are doen in a more modern and atmospheric style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and programmed blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling and spoken word parts can also be heard at times along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the music also brings in a great amount of post black metal elements while some songs also mix in depressive elements and there are also 3 different ambient instrumentals and that genre also gets in in with some of the heavier material as the recording progresses and there is also a brief use of operatic female vocals and classical music touches present on one of the tracks as will as a few seconds of whispers which also evolve into melodic male vocals and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Eterna Rovina plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric while also mixing in some raw, depressive, ambient and post elements of the genre to create a recording that is very diverse recording, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Latin and cover nature, cosmos and human decay themes.
In my opinion Eterna Rovina are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'Memorie Del Caos" "Ombre Di Cenere" and "Solitarie maree". 8 out of 10.
