Gebrechlichkeit are a solo project from Germany that plays a style of black metal he refers to as 'plague'n'roll' and this is a review of his 2016 album "Aphorismen Der Angst" which was released by Human To Dust Records.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with some grim black metal screams a few seconds later and the music also brings in a more modern European style of the genre and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Keyboards can be heard in certain sections of the recording and some of the guitar riffs also use a decent amount of melody and some of the faster riffs use tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and blast beats can also be heard in the faster sections of the songs.
As the album progresses a brief use of spoken word samples can be heard and the music starts bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and clean playing can also be heard at times and one track also brings in a few seconds of choirs before returning back to a heavier direction and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a melodic fashion.
Gebrechlichkeit plays a style of black metal that is very raw and misanthropic but done in a more modern fashion while still being very aggressive at the same time, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover dark, misanthropic and anti christian themes.
In my opinion Gebrechlichkeit are a very great sounding misanthropic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Keger der Stille" "Der Hoffnung Aasfressor" "Grausige Melodien" and "Nekromantie". 8 out of 10.
