Lament are a solo project from Slovenia that plays a very raw and necro form of black metal and this is a review of his 2016 demo "Invocation" which will be released in June by Ekhidna Records.
Distorted amb sounds start off the demo along with some high pitched black metal screams being added onto the recording along with some non traditional melodies and elements of harsh noise can also be heard at times and after the intro the music starts bringing in more of a straight forward black metal style.
At times the music can be very melodic in a more darkened approach and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw and old school black metal feeling and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads also add more chaos into the songs when they are utilized while also having a melodic tone to them at times and the whole demo also remains very heavy and grim from beginning to ending of the recording.
Lament plays a style of black metal that is very traditional, raw, and necro sounding in the second wave tradition while also bringing in a more modern touch to the genre, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Lament are a very great sounding raw and necro black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nuclear Winds" and "Wicked yet Divine". 8 out of 10.
