Nevoa are a band from Portugal that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Re Un" which will be released in June by Avantgarde Music.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album along with some acoustic guitars a few seconds alter that takes the music into more of a neo folk direction and after a few minutes the music gets a lot more heavier and also brings in elements of doom metal along with some grim black metal screams.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the music also mixes both the clean and heavier parts together in some parts of the songs and elements of post black metal can also be heard at times and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very distorted yet melodic direction and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction while they also bring in a brief touch of psychedelia.
Nevoa plays a style of black metal that is very modern and atmospheric while also adding in doom metal style riffing and a touch of neo folk to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, solitude and nature themes.
In my opinion Nevoa are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Contemplation:' and "Closure". 8 out of 10.
