United Kingdom's Nordland have returned with a new recording which continues his raw style of pagan black metal while also getting more melodic and this is a review of his 2018 album "The Dead Stones" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and More hate Productions.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with some grim black metal s creams a few seconds later while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic style and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also has it's atmospheric moments along with some spoken word parts also being used briefly as well as the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody, some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars can also be heard.
On this recording Nordland pays a style of pagan black metal that is very aggressive while also having its melodic and atmospheric moments, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Misanthropy and Paganism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nordland and if you are a fan of aggressive pagan black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Thrice Crowned King" "Hunted By Pan" "Throw My Ashes To The Wind"and "The Oceans Above us". 8 out of 10.
