This is a review of a split album between Germany's Black Autumn and Canada's Forodren called "in The Vast Emptiness" which will be released in April b y Fiadh Productions and we will start off the review with Black Autumn a solo project who returns with his atmospheric mixture of ambient black and doom metal.
His side of the split starts out with some percussions, stringed instruments, nature sounds and ambient style synths before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs while the music also has its atmospheric moments.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with some clear singing and growls also being utilized at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as most of his tracks also being very long and epic in length, all of the music also sticks to a slower direction and clean playing can also be heard briefly towards the end. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover gloom, death and darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Black Autumn and if you are a fan of ambient, atmospheric black and doom metal, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Remember The Rain".
Next up is Forodren a solo project who returns with an atmospheric and depressive style of black metal.
His side of the split starts out with a very dark and heavy sound while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on his side of the recording. Synths can also be heard at times along with the vocals being mostly high pitched yet depressive black metal screams and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
The music also has its atmospheric moments along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard as well as most of his tracks also being very long and epic in length. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cove r depression and melancholy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Forodren and if you are a fan of atmospheric and depressive black emtal, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Voidseeker".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of atmospheric and depressive black metal. 8 out of 10.
