Cierma Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Thank you for that opportunity, to tell about our art.

We are from Belarus. We want to represent our Motherland, the place where a lot and nothing going on at the same time nowadays. Not mentioning all the shit in our region these times, every social media is full of it.

We want to deliver our message to the World. To seed the Darkness and Reap the living.

2.In the last few months you have released both an ep and a full length, musically how do they both differ from each other?

Oh, they differ in everything. Different points of view on our art. You can see the raw and short black bite in “Agony Blasphemy” and the well-manufactured, solid and wide spread of the Black Metal wings in “The Tread of Darkness”. More or less, every chord or lyric line is walking hand by hand. Lots of reasons we can’t describe in one single interview.

3.Some of your lyrics cover occultism themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts

We prefer to keep our practical part private, but there will always be the primordial lefthanded path occultism. And if we will take another step deep into our art, it would be more of anticosmic materials of The Temple of the Black Light. A great par also belongs to the antient pagan mysteries, which are hidden in our endless Flow. We call it the Flow of Darkness.

4.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

We respect the wild beauty of our Nature. The deepest darkest woods and its mystery, the highest mountains and its winds, the widest fields and its silent whispers. We find ourselves in peace there, what is hidden for millions of people. A great part of inspiration comes from within as well.

5.I know that the bands name means Darkness' in Belarusian', how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?

Perfect. One word that can describe our Path, our being and our art.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

Yes, the art was made by Nestor Povarnin. We have been working on it for a couple of months, to get everything right, as it should be. Five Essences of Darkness, Reaping all on their way. You may think about why there is a “Four Riders” song takes its place in our album. There is a common reason, that everyone could understand. White (Hunger), Red (War), Black (Plague), Pale (Death). And of course, we have the fifth one ahead. The Darkness in front of them all.

That was a great pleasure to work with Nestor. We've never met a man who understands so well what we want from his work.

7.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

Not yet, but planning to do some shows in the nearest future. First will take place in Warsaw, Poland in May this year. Further, there are some perspectives to ride across Italy. Also, we are opened to every venue in Europe these days. And also planning to visit US, Latin America and of course Scandinavian lands.

8.The new album was released on 'Avantgarde Music', how did you get in contact with this label?

Pretty unexpected. Once the Serpent’s Official Music Video was released on Black Metal Promotion YouTube channel. There were a few offers from labels we didn't find common ground with, but we thank them for their response nevertheless. And some we don't thank for simply stopping responding. Very rude of them, though. Let them know, if they read that.

So, one day we contacted BMP directly, and asked about the theme.

The answer was short.

- “Well, Avantgarde Music (Italy) will be printing the BMP shirt. You could ask them.”

We did. And hit the point from the start.

We’ve got the answer from Roberto next day, and started our dialogue. Surprised by his feedback and response we had. And we are still in touch with Andrea, the manager. Every day we have the best experience of communication ever. The most professional view and feedback. The best people to work with for us today.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

Pretty different (talking about reviews), and pretty solid regarding the people that have become the fans of our art in such a short period. We are so pleased with all the feedback we get. So much people and creatures from all over the World are talking about and sharing our album.

We do believe that each of them has its sole attitude and position towards the life, and which is more important – to The Death. We are grateful to them. We do believe in our common Flow of Darkness.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We want to evolve and crystalize our arts in the most dark and deep foundations of Black Metal itself. To bring our aim to everyone and everything on our Path. The Path what those belong.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We can say the following.

Virtually the entire BM story is at the heart of our work. We have no orthodox or neophytes, we have no “true” or “non-true”. You can hear everything. From the first wave, woodland odes of Burzum, to the demonic riffs of Watain demons to the exasperating screams of depression, under the name of Shining. Thanked to all of these great artists, we’ve made it our own way.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Let the Darkness embrace you! 🏴
