Ominøs are a duo from the Netherlands that plays a very harsh form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 ep "The Everlasting Pain" which will b e reelased in June 23rd by Void Wanderer Productions.
A folk music orientated intro starts off the album before adding in more of an apocalyptic atmosphere along with some synths and acoustic guitars a few seconds later as well as introducing grim black metal screams onto the recording before going into a heavier musical direction and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
After the intro the vocals get more high pitched while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Clean playing can also be heard briefly along with the music also having its atmospheric moments, during the faster sections of the songs a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling and a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Ominøs plays a style of black metal that is very harsh and atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the inevitable demise of humanity and misanthropic disaster.
In my opinion Ominøs are a very great sounding harsh black metal duo and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Demonic Revenge" and "Oh Darkness my Sun". 8 out of 10.
