Sznur are a band from Poland that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very raw and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Ludzina" which will be released in July by Godz Ov War Productions.
Folk music samples start off the album before going into a heavier direction while all of the instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the vocals being mostly grim sounding black metal screams and the faster sections of the songs also add in a lot of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is added into the fast riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The tracks also add in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences as well as one song also adding in a brief use of synths, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and the album closes with a Defekt Muzgo cover.
On this recording Sznur remain true to the raw and misanthropic style of black metal t hat they had established on their previous release. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Polish and cover misanthropy, death and suicide themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Sznur and if you are a fan of raw and misanthropic black metal, yuo should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kurwy" "Pole" and "Stosunek". 8 out of 10.
