1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the musical project these days?
"Hi, first of all thanks for your time. On these days we're working on the new videoclip. Now you can watch on Superior Rage youtube channel the lyric video of "Asmodeus Bacchic".
2.Recently you have recorded a new ep, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
"No, it's the same music, but with a better sound and groove I think"
3.On the new ep you re-recorded some of your older songs, what was the decision behind re-doing some of your older tracks?
"In 2024 "Anthology" compilation was out. It was a reborn for the Superior Rage project. I chose two song from each demo and I re-recorded them. In total are six tracks, "Indecent Condition" and "Asmodeus Bacchic" from the debut demo, "Erme's Silence" and "Cuore Sincero" from "Through Infinity" and "III" and "D.A.D." from "III" demo. After this step I made "Back to the Crypt" promo with session musicians and now here we're with WormHoleDeath and "In Memoriam" EP. It's great. Same stuff (except the two new songs), but with a new energy and instruments".
4.The band was broken up for 8 years, what was the cause of the split and the decision to reform?
"Superior Rage was a duo from 2012 to 2014. A weird and funny period, with recordings on youtube and a lot of cover stuff. We played a lot of symphonic black metal on rehearsal also. But in 2014 the bassist left the project and after some months of personal records, I decided to dissolve the project. Fuckoff, I had had enough. In 2017 Superior Rage made a reunion with friends for a new version of "Indecent Condition" and you can find it on Bandcamp page. The single "Boobs Explosions" broke the silence in 2022 and can be considered the return of the project. But it was more of a joke and an outlet than a real comeback. In 2024 the idea to restart the project was a flame return, so I made "Anthology" compilation and the masked man was back".
5.Some of your lyrics have covered occult themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
"I think my passion for black metal. Various inspirations come from historic bands like Dark Funeral, Nargaroth, Von, Bathory, Darkthrone, excetera..."
6.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored over the years with your music?
"The purity of spirit, fighting one's own demons, struggling against religions, isolating oneself from a world of mad people, and much more."
7.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Superior Rage'?
"The project started as a side project of another musical band. At the time I was very angry and I thought that Superior Rage was a very fitting name. In the early years I used to compose some pieces, but then, in 2008, a particular event really made me angry and I poured it all into my first demo. I recorded that demo in a few days, struck by very strong inspiration. The rest, as they say, is history."
8.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?
"The historical character of Superior Rage is haunted by ghosts of the past and tries to survive them. Each of us has to live with the past, and it's not easy at all. The cover, and in particular the title of the EP, are also a tribute to twenty years of the project".
9.The last few releases before the split where all cover songs, are you planning on focusing more on original material on the next few releases?
"It's possible, never say never. I have a lot of ideas in my head, we'll see if they turn into new songs for Superior Rage".
10.On a worldwide level how has the reaction bene to your music by fans of black metal/
"The reaction of the listeners in general seems good, and I am grateful for that. I hope that by listening to our music they get into the spirit of the project."
11.When can we expect another full length and also wher do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
"I think it's too early to say. Superior Rage will continue to make its music following its own path and never betraying the core values that are the foundation of the project".
12.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?
"Extreme metal, ambient, classical music, soundtracks... there's an embarrassment of choice..."
13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
"Follow your heart despite this shitty world and don't take yourselves too seriously. Follow the character with the cloak and the gold mask... you won't regret it."
