Erragal are a band from Baghdad, Iraq that plays an ambient form of Sumerian Occult Black Metal with more of a focus on the dark ambient side and this is a review of their self released 2012 album "Shamash".
Drums are all slow beats while they are utilized, while the synths bring in elements of black metal, dark ambient and neo-classical to create a sound of their own along with a variety of many different musical keys being utilized, as for the sound effects they bring a very dark, avant garde and ritualistic sound to the music along with some distorted parts that bring the black metal part in the music.
Vocals are mostly demonic sounding black metal screams and growls with some spoken word ritualistic passages and some clean singing chanting, while the lyrics cover Sumerian Occultism and Magick, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with some of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Erragal are a very great sounding hybrid of Sumerian Occult black metal, dark ambient, ritual, drone and neo-classical and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Shamash Part I" "Shamash Part III" "Fragments Of The Past" and "Shamash Part VII". RECOMMENDED BUY.
