Brume d'Automne are a band from Quebec, Canada that plays a very raw and primitive form of black metal with a melodic edge and this is a review of their self titled 2012 album which was released by Sepulchral Productions.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful tone with heavy riffs that dominate throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sound with some melodies being thrown into the riffing as well as adding an old school feeling to the music in addition there is a brief use of clean playing that brings a folk music feeling to the music, while the lead guitars are very primitive and melodic sounding black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized on the last song they bring an ancient sounding pagan/folk music feeling to the music.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and hateful high pitched black metal screams that have a depressive feeling to them at times along with a brief use of shouting in addition there is some clean singing being utilized on the last song for a few seconds that bring a pagan feeling to the music along with a spoken word part at the end, while the lyrics are written in French and cover Quebec Nationalism and History, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Brume d'Automne are a very great sounding raw, primitive and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this recording.
