Sonderriket are a duo from Sweden that plays black metal mixed in with elements from shoegaze, experimental, and dark ambient music and this is a review of their self released 2012 album "Samlade Hemligheter".
Drums range from slow to mid paced playing with not much in the way of fast drumming or blast beats, while the sound effects bring in elements of experimental, industrial and dark ambient music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, in addition there is some synths being utilized that bring an avant garde feeling to the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding mixed in with some heavy distorted parts and influences from shoegaze and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking to add an exotic feeling to the music.
Vocals are mostly distorted sounding high pitched depressive black metal screams mixed in with some spoken word parts and whispers, while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Sonderriket are a very great sounding hybrid of black metal, shoegaze, experimental and industrial music and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band.
