Hekatomb are a 1 man band from Portugal that plays a very atmospheric, raw and primitive form of pagan/black metal and this is a review of their 2004 album "Fim Do Existir" which was released by Satan's Millennium Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the synths when they are utilized bring a very dark, avant garde and atmospheric sound to the music without being a lead instrument, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, in addition the songs are not either too long or short.
Vocals are all grim sounding black metal screams, while the lyrics are written in Portuguese and cover paganism and nature, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it which is perfect for this style of black metal.
In my opinion Hekatomb are a very great sounding raw and primitive pagan/black metal band and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cripta Negra" "Sopro De Morte" and "Trono De Malicia". RECOMMENDED BUY
