Maskim are a band from Iowa that plays a very fast, raw and primitive form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 1999 album "Battlestorm" which was released by Genocide Music.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with some thrash and classic influences being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very dark, raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar solos and leads with some melodic parts being thrown in at times.
Vocals are all grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover Occultism, War and Darkness, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it capturing the black metal sound of the era of time perfectly.
In my opinion Maskim are a very great sounding fast, raw and primitive sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Smoke On The Horizon" and "Desecrated Ground". RECOMMENDED BUY.
