Blight are a band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada that has been featured before in this zine and plays a Luciferian form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "The Teachings" which will be released in August by heathen Tribes Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep and all of the musical instruments are very powerful sounding while demonic vocals can be heard briefly going going into more of an angry and high pitched black metal direction which also utilizes a grim atmosphere at times and the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody.
Most of the music has a more modern occult black metal style to them while some of the vocals can also be rough and melodic at both the same time while also bringing in some clear singing and on some of the tracks the riffs bring in more of a raw edge and their is also a brief use of blast beats and fast riffs that also bring in a small amount of tremolo picking while most of the music usually sticks to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and the last track also brings in a brief use of spoken word parts.
Blight plays a style of occult black metal that is done in a more modern style while still having a very dark atmosphere, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Luciferianism, Left Hand Path, Qliptoth and Drakonian Magick themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Blight and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "For the Pact To Be Writ" and "Magna Arcana". 8 out of 10.
