This is a review of a collaboration between Germany's Valborg who play more of a doom/death metal style and Romania's Bloodway a band that has been reviewed before by this zine and plays a very progressive and avant garde form of black metal and they mix their 2 separate styles together on this self released ep which is called "Karbon Winter".
A very distorted, heavy yet melodic sound starts off the ep along with some death metal growls and you can also hear elements of doom and avant garde metal in the music along with the riffs also using a decent amount of melody and all of the musical instruments sound powerful and a fter awhile black metal influences are added into the music.
When guitar leads are utilized they remain true to a very dark and melodic style while also adding progressive elements into the music and the keyboards give the music more of an atmospheric and avant garde style and clean guitars are added onto the second track and both of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Valborg and Bloodway mix their 2 different styles together to create a musical style that I would probably describe as being an avant garde and progressive form of blackened doom metal, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness and winter themes.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collaboration between Valborg and Bloodway and if you are a fan of black, avant garde and doom metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Karbon Winter". 8 out of 10.
