Verdorven are a solo project from the Netherlands that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2016 demo "De Tijd Van Weleer".
A very distorted riff starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and after awhile grim black metal screams are added onto the recording and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody while all of the musical instruments sound very powerful and death metal growls can also be heard at times.
Some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard which also gives the music a very raw sound and the guitar leads are done in a very distorted fashion and there is also a small amount of whispers and robotic spoken words being utilized and the music can also be very experimental at times while also mixing in some atmospheric elements and the songs bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the last track is an avant garde style instrumental.
Verdorven plays a style of black metal that has its raw and atmospheric moments while also getting very experimental at times but never straying far away from the genre, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Dutch and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Verdorven are a very great sounding raw and experimental black metal solo project and if you are looking for something different, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Op Weg Naar Het Lot" and "Willoze Weezens". 8 out of 10.
