Plecto Aliquem Capite are a band from Sri Lanka that has had a few albums reviewed before in this zine and plays a very depressive form of black metal with some death metal influences on this recording and this is a review of their 2016 ep 'The End".
A very heavy sound starts off the ep along with some grim black metal screams and blast beats a few seconds later and the vocals also bring in the sounds of torture at times along with a few deep growls and the guitar leads also sound very dark and one track brings in some evil sounding laughter.
A lot of death metal elements can be heard in the guitar riffing and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the music also gets technical at times while one song also brings in a brief use of clean playing and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Plecto Aliquem Capite creates a recording that keeps its depressive black metal roots while also being a little bit less experimental and also adding in more death metal elements this time around, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Plecto Aliquem Capite and if you are a fan of depressive black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hypersomia" and "Grief". 8 out of 10.
