Anthro Halaust are a band from Ukraine that plays a very atmospheric and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Shard of truth, Bleed Live" which was released by Hell Hammer's Music.
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep before adding in high pitched black metal s creams along with some death metal growls and that genre also influences the riffing and there is also a small amount of atmospheric synths being utilized at times and the music also brings in a lot of 90's second wave influences.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and the fast riffs also use a decent amount of tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Anthro Halaust plays a style of black metal that goes back to the atmospheric days of 95 and 96 with their approach to the synths, the production sounds very raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics cover dark and melancholic themes.
In my opinion Anthro Halaust are a very great sounding old school, atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hatred" and "Cry Of The Soul". 8 out of 10.
