Orae are a band from Germany that plays an experimental form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 demo "Disbirth" which was released by Home Taping Cruelties.
Clean guitar playing starts off the demo along with some drums a few seconds later as well as some melodic riffing and after awhile angry black metal vocals make their presence known on the recording and the music also gets very experimental and avant garde at times and the solos and leads are very dark and melodic.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and acoustic guitars can also be heard at times and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with a brief use of spoken word parts and psychedelic elements can also be heard at times and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard.
When the riffs use tremolo picking it gives the music more of a raw black metal edge and deep growls can also be heard at times and one of the tracks is a drone instrumental while the remaining songs have vocals and all of the tracks sound different from each other which also gives the demo more variety.
Orae plays a style of black metal that can be raw at times while also getting very experimental and avant garde on most of the tracks, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Orae are very great sounding experimental black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Disbirth" and "Defection". 8 out of 10.
