Dark Manthra are a band from Columbia that plays a very dark form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 album "Vientos De Guerra".
Atmospheric sounding synths and after the intor the music goes into more of a heavy and melodic direction while also introduces high pitched black metal screams onto the recording and the faster sections of the songs bring in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which gives the music more of a raw feeling.
A lot of 90's influences can be heard in the bands musical style along with some elements of thrash and death metal and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to t hem while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses clean playing along with some classical guitars can be heard in certain sections of the recording while some songs also bring in a brief use of spoken word parts and synths return on the outro while the album does close with a heavier bonus track.
Dark Manthra plays a style of black metal that is very dark, raw and melodic in the 90's tradition while also mixing in thrash and death metal influences, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written in Spanish and English and cover anti Christianity, darkness and war themes.
In my opinion Dark Manthra are a very great sounding dark, raw and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Vienos De Guerra" "Faith Breaker" and "Inquisicion". 8 out of 10.
