Tantanu are a band from Italy that plays a very dark and progressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "The Day I Die" which was released by Masked Dead Records.
Clean guitar playing starts off the ep along with some progressive style synths which also mixes in with the heavier style a few seconds later and the riffs also use a decent amount of melody while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams and most of their tracks are very long and epic in length.
Female vocals can be heard in the music at times along with some goth influences also being utilized at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the acoustic guitars also give the music more of a progressive feeling and the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts and melodic male vocals.
Tantanu plays a style of dark/black metal that goes for more of a progressive approach to the genre while also being very diverse at the same time, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Tantanu are a very great sounding dark and progressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Anger And Pain". 8 out of 10.
