Murg are a band from Sweden that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Gudatall" which will be released in December by Nordvis Produktion.
Clean guitars start off the album and after a minute the music starts going into a heavier direction before going into a very fast and raw direction that also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and the riffs also use a decent amount of melody.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and they also mix the clean playing into some of the later tracks which also gives the music more of an atmospheric edge and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and one track brings in a few seconds of soundscpaes before returning back to a heavier direction.
Murg plays a style of black metal that is very dark, raw, atmospheric and contemporary sounding, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Swedeish and cover dark and desolate themes.
In my opinion Murg are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sorgeblot I Gangara" "Masterans Resa i Morket" and "Torstens Kval". 8 out of 10.
