Mors Spei are a solo project from Italy that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of his 2016 album "Necrocosmos Genesis" which was released by Lupus Niger Prod. And Distro.
A very dark and distorted intro along with some drum beats and synths start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals a re grim yet high pitched black metal screams and the music is more rooted in t he 90's second wave tradition.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark style and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and some of the riffs also bring in a small amount of dark sounding melodies and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
Mors Spei creates another recording that remains true to the raw and old school style of black metal that was presented on his previous releases, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark, hateful, satanism, and anti religion themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Mors Spei and if you are a fan of raw and old school black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Born To Hate" "The Litanies Of Satan" and "Necrocosmos Genesis". 8 out of 10.
