Imposition are a band from Australia that plays an ambient form of black metal and this is a review of their self released album "Dark Mysticism".
Ambient style synths start off the album and also adds in touches of dungeon synth and after the intro the music goes into a heavier and melodic direction and blast beats can also be heard in the faster sections of the songs and they also mix the heavy and atmospheric parts together and the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams.
Most of the music is heavily rooted in the early 90's and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the fast riffs also use a decent amount of tremolo picking which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and psychedelic elements can also be heard at times and guitar leads are also used briefly and a couple of the tracks are long and epic in length and they also bring in an ambient instrumental before closing the album with a heavier track.
Imposition plays a musical style that takes and early 90's style of black metal and mixes it in with elements of ambient to create something different, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover dark and occult themes.
In my opinion Imposition are a very great sounding ambient black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sons Of The Full Moon" and "Dark Mysticism". 8 out of 10.
