Of Feather And Bone are a band from Denver, Colorado that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of war, black and death metal with some elements of grindcore and this is a review of their 2020 album "Sulfuric Disintegration" which will be released in November by Profound Lore Records.
A very dark and ritualistic sound starts off the album before going into a very fast, r aw and brutal war metal direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly bestial growls while the riffing also mixes in a decent amount of 90's era death emtal elements and dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
Black metal screams are also utilized at times while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic yet old school style, some of the faster sections of the songs also add in the brutality of grindcore as well as the ritualistic sounds also making a return on a couple of the later tracks.
On this recording Of Feather And Bone takes their mixture of war, black, death emtal and grindcore into more of a darker and more aggressive direction. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Aztec Mythology, Anti Christian, Darkness and Death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Of Feather And Bone and if you are a fan of war, black, death metal and grindcore, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Entropic Self Immolation" and "Baptized In Boiling Phlegm" . 8 out of 10.
