Negative Or Nothing are a duo from Chile that plays a very depressive form of black metal with elements of dark rock and this is a review of their 2020 album "Drowned" which was released as a joint effort between Wulfhere Productions. Depressive Illusion, Careless Records and Azure Graal.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly high pitched yet depressive black metal screams while a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also brings in elements of dark rock. One of the tracks also introduces atmospheric sounding synths onto the recording and as the album progresses and ambient instrumental can also be heard.
Negative Or Nothing plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in a depressive black metal style along with the dark rock and ambient touches also making the music stand out more. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Existentialism and Negativity themes.
In my opinion Negative Or Nothing are a very great sounding depressive black metal duo with elements of dark rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Vmbra" and "Intransitive". 8 out of 10.
